Midas Construction, Tremough Student Accommodation, Penryn
In June 2008, Fred Champion Groundworks started work on the Student Accommodation on the Tremough Campus for Midas Construction. With this contract being a major civil engineering project, FCG carried out a number of specialist activities on site, showing off our diversity as a company. These included; Gabion basket retaining structures together with a wrap around geotextile earth reinforcement. We were also involved in the installation of the large basket soakaways, foul pumping station together with a rain water harvesting system. All these designed, supplied and installed by Fred Champion Groundworks. A mass cut and fill operation was required, with 22,000m3 of subsoil being cut and used elsewhere onsite. Our insitu-concrete division constructed all the insitu-concrete walls and slabs along with the capping beam and wailing beam. Our paving division, Trojan Paving, carried out all the permeable paving construction for this project.
